Fast and Furious "Gun Walking" and Illegal Immigration

Once in a while I find something that just connects, I'm not real bright or I'd have made this connection a long time ago.

I'm seeing a pot full of stories about the Gun Walking scandal and gun control, who knew it was being done, who didn't know, how long has it been going on, why was it allowed, etc...etc...etc.  This link http://www.cbsnews.com/8300-31727_162-10391695.html?contributor=41919 will give you a good sample of how even the MSM is going after a story (when they don't have to make something up it's amazing how the sharks circle the blood)...sorry, my media bias.

I don't know the answers to the questions but now I'd like to add my questions to the mix.  I really don't like trying to ask questions like these because they tend to add to my paranoia and make me sound like a conspiracy nut (now I'm even questioning it) anyway...

How do you make the American people feel compassion for the illegal immigrants coming into this country?  Well if you are a President of Mexico, you work with a President of the United States and hatch a deal that makes Mexicans look like they are persecuted so we will feel compassion.  That's been done for years, 'they are just looking for a better life', 'they just want to do the jobs Americans won't do', 'they didn't choose to come here, their parents brought them', 'they are here, we can't just let them remain uneducated', 'they are sick and have no money, we can't turn them away', I've heard them all for years and worse yet I've bought it. 

After some time researching it I find that they come here because they are told they can get free money and services in the United States, they don't want to be Americans, they want to take back the land they lay claim to for Mexico.  Then the economy happened; now I'm pushing back as are many others so the compassion is fading.  I've come to realize what the end game is, and it isn't pretty for our country.  What I don't understand is the loyalty to Mexico, a government that keeps everyone except the few elite, poor as dirt (sorry sidebar). 

Now comes the American President (OK maybe not him but someone really, REALLY high up) that says we can violate our laws to "trace" guns going to Mexico.  I was in law enforcement for more than a decade (no I didn't graduate spell that as retire) and at NO time was I allowed to violate our laws for an investigation, I could call a wanted subject and lie to them ("hey this is Johnny John from XYZ radio station and you've won a hundred bucks, you just have to come to the station and show ID to claim it"), but not violate the law. 

Now throw in the fact that fewer and fewer Americans are feeling the Compassion for the illegal immigrants, because it is harder and harder to make a decent living in this country, and you have a crisis (if you are hoping to increase compassion for illegals).  "Never let a crisis go to waste", and I'll further that comment by adding "when you can ramp it up".

Now it gets a little dicey, if you let thousands of guns "walk" across the Mexican border and ramp up the violence in Mexico, won't the American people feel worse for those Innocent illegal immigrants?  Hey this is a "two birds" moment...make the American people feel bad for the illegals and as a bonus, bolster the failing gun control advocates, nice little picture developing here isn't it?

Again I don't say the President knew about it (he says he didn't) but I did know one that said "I am not a crook", and another that said "I have never had sex with that woman", and yet another that said "Iraq has WMD's".  Now I'm not saying that President Obama knew anything at all about this, I'm just saying lets not give him a pass on it because he is the President.

Budget Cut Fight / Illegial Immigration

I've been ignoring my duties again, I've had a cold but that's just an excuse, my brain isn't processing the way it should.  I would give a couple of examples here but my brain isn't processing the way it should...see I can build in excuses as I go. 

Well enough BS.  I got into reading and watching some things that have been sent to me lately and have come to the conclusion that our country is nothing more than a big chess board to the idiots in congress.  We have the new Republicans in congress that want to cut a mere 51 billion dollars from the budget to extend the operation for another ??? weeks/months.  We have Democrats that want to let parts of the government shut down so they can blame the Tea Party Patriots and the freshmen congressmen, we have illegal immigrants that don't want to live in the United States, and we have government agency's doling out over 100 billion dollars a year to support illegal immigrants...hey guess what.

I've got a solution...since the illegals don't want to live in this country anyway, the Republicans want to cut 51 billion dollars from the budget, the Democrats don't want to cut the budget at all, lets do this.

Stop spending 100 billion to support illegals, the Republicans get their 51 billion (plus), the Democrats don't have to look bad to their base and the Mexicans living here and benefiting from our government handouts can go back to Mexico where they want to live.

ATF and Homeland Security

Homeland Security is in charge of our borders (org chart), doing a good job, bad job, no job at all, is all a matter for discussion but I would be remiss in my obligation in writing this at all if I didn't acknowledge it...so there it is.

Having said that, don't you think they would be interested in the guns that another agency in the federal government are letting cross our southern border?

Why would the legislators in Washington be calling for the heads of gun show operators or gun store owners if in fact the ATF are letting more guns across the border than those targets are? I call the owners of gun stores and operators of gun shows targets because of the way some people are going after them. If you don't know what a target is just go to one of those gun stores or gun shows and you can buy as many as you want, without a background check (so far).

Now back on topic, why isn't Janet Napolitano screaming her head off about this, could it be that the ATF's 'investigation' is part and parcel of a bigger plan to open the borders, break the back of the United States economy and institute gun control.

Guns are a big problem for the government if the desire is to control everything, if the government wants to open the borders, and despite what the administration claims, they do. They have to rid the United States the ability to resist. I know that there are people that say ‘what good would your 9mm pistol do against the heavy firepower of the military?’ and to that I’d say take a look at what Afghans are doing with a few AK’s, grenade launchers and a few caves. They did it to the Russians and are now doing it to us.

The government is trying to open the borders and promote gun control through the UN small arms treaty, they are trying to do that through the ATF allowing guns across the border which escalates the violence at the border, and they are doing that through letting 84% of the 448,000 illegal immigrants caught last year, go un-prosecuted.

How do we want our country to look, this year, next year? If you have a vision of how you think it should look then you need to get involved. The Mexican Nationals coming into this country illegally do not want to assimilate into this country, they are loyal to Mexico and want to make this country part of Mexico. I for the life of me can't understand why they are that fiercely loyal to Mexico with the standard of living they have there but then I guess it isn't all because of our standard of living that I'm loyal to the USA.

Send members of ATF to jail for violation of existing gun laws

When did the law change? I was a police officer for 11 years and in all that time I was never allowed to violate the law for an investigation. Since when did the ATF become higher than the law? We have laws on the books that prohibit the sale of guns under a myriad of conditions, and I am more than a little convinced that some of those laws covered the sale of firearms in large numbers to suppliers to drug cartels. I understand the onus is on the higher ups in ATF for ordering it’s agents to just monitor the sale and track the guns and not stop the sales, but if we can’t get the higher ups, then we as the little people should go after the agents themselves. If we can effectively prosecute the agents themselves for letting the guns go, in violation of the law then they will stop obeying unlawful orders from higher ups.


While the supreme court has not been willing to hear a case on disobeying an unlawful order, it has gotten to the court right below the supreme court http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.printable&pageId=256457 . The military has since the Nuremberg Trials been required to disobey unlawful orders.

This needs to be pushed into the supreme court because we have law enforcement officers every day that are put into that position. I while working patrol was asked to stop all motorcycles leaving the bar to check for baffles in their exhaust pipes. I had just gotten out of the academy a few months before and had not yet made probation but it was one of the things we were taught in the academy. The law held that you could stop traffic with the purpose of vehicle inspections but could not single out a specific type of vehicles. Ie. You could stop every vehicle and inspect, every other vehicle, or every tenth vehicle etc. but you couldn’t just pull motorcycles over and let all of the other vehicular traffic pass. I was told in my academy that if I did that, then I could be charged with a crime. I’m beginning to see that the Federal Agencies seem to not have that limitation, I just saw an ATF agent give a report that says he was told to let guns be sold to suspected gun traffickers, in bulk, and even told store owners not to stop the sale (see fast and furious guns).

I don’t want to see the agents on the street go to jail but don’t you think we should hold our civilian law enforcement to the same standards as we hold our military to? And further don’t you think we should hold the US Justice Department to these same standards, as it appears they were complacent in those orders even if they didn’t issue them.

“The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) 809.ART.90 (20), makes it clear that military personnel need to obey the "lawful command of his superior officer," 891.ART.91 (2), the "lawful order of a warrant officer", 892.ART.92 (1) the "lawful general order", 892.ART.92 (2) "lawful order". In each case, military personnel have an obligation and a duty to only obey Lawful orders and indeed have an obligation to disobey Unlawful orders, including orders by the president that do not comply with the UCMJ. Wake up Again

I have taken months off from this blog.  Tired and working all the time has made me not want to think.  I know this has made most of us feel the same way.  I see meetup groups that have no leader that will be closed down soon (I will say that some are political meetups where the sponsor lost his race) but others are meetups that are still as relevant as they were when they were created.  I think the difference is that there was a fervour around the meetups before the mid-term elections and now that the next election isn't until 2012, we are dozing again (I know I have been). 

I went to a Tea Party West training for blogging and getting your message out on Saturday which got my juices flowing again.  I may not be any more articulate than I've ever been, I may not have anything you want to hear but thanks to Bea Talor and the US Patriots meetup group, I'm awake and back.

I would also like to mention a friend's new Blog site, Bettye Gilmore attended the training at the same time I did and she started a site called http://sweetlemondrops.blogspot.com, she posted her first post today and I'm very excited for her.  Good going Bettye.

I am falling further and further into the Rabbit hole.  I watched a video yesterday at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTrJQpgf6sE.  This video was well developed and has things in it that I always thought was someone’s fantasy.  There is so much evidence produced there that I’m not able to pull myself completely out of the rabbit hole.  And now I’ve watched this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E3oIbO0AWE called 9-11 Loose Change and I’ve slipped further in.  Any residuals of trust I had in the government have just about been destroyed.  Maybe we are misguided in trying to change the government from the inside.

Is anyone looking at the numbers here? Am I looking at them wrong? In the article Tony sent out the other day the president says “we consume more than 20 percent of the world's oil, but have less than two percent of the world's oil reserves”. From the government’s own website (http://www.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_impcus_a2_nus_ep00_im0_mbbl_m.htm), we import approximately 350,000 barrels of oil a month. Now (by the governments own estimates, http://www.thestreet.com/story/10770971/1/bp-oil-spill-update-flow-rate-estimate.html?cm_ven=GOOGLEN) this ONE bad BP well in the gulf of Mexico is spewing out what could be “as high as 40,000 barrels of oil daily”.


The only reason we are so dependent on foreign oil is that our government is using oil imports to spread our nation’s wealth. This isn’t because we don’t have domestic reserves because if it were we would have been drilling that well instead of British Petroleum in international waters. Do you not think we could muster the domestic resources to drill in the gulf of Mexico?

Our government has been on a course of globalization for decades, global monetary system, global government, global military. Once globalization occurs and we have one government, one monetary system then why would we need a military at all, who would we fight, ourselves? Who would the sheep herders (leaders) be, who would decide how the herds got culled. Ted Turner once said the optimal world population (herd) size would be about 2 billion, who decides what happens to the other 4.5 to 5 billion of us? Ted Turner? George Soros? Bill Gates?

In the wild it works out to be survival of the fittest, in domestic herds the farmer selects the strongest and best producing and culls out the rest, all done for the good of the herd? Not really, domestically it’s all done for the good of the farmer because naturally the herd would take care of itself.

Our freedoms won’t be taken in a frontal attack, they will be taken by international treaties and hidden groups of the elite.

Real ID or conspiracy theorist.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist…just wanted to get that out up front because when you read this you might think otherwise.  I went to a meeting tonight at Findlay Toyota (oh and by the way, thanks for the use of the meeting room) on the issues surrounding the Real ID or Pass ID as it’s known.  On the face of it, it seems benign enough but before I’m through here it may not seem quite so benign.  Members of the Nevada DMV were on hand to tell us the only difference in the data collected for Real ID and a standard issue drivers license is the gold star.  The biggest difference is however that you have to produce electronically verifiable identification in order to get the coveted gold star.

Now I’m all about being identified as a good driver so my insurance doesn’t go up, I also don’t want anything on my driving record like a DUI that would impose on my ability to own firearms or carry them concealed, so let’s look at this with some logic;

 

If I decide to have a couple of drinks, drive home and get popped for drunk driving, even if later proven that I’m not legally drunk, I still now have an arrest.  Do you think that information goes away because you were found not guilty?  I work for the government, used to be a police officer and believe me when I tell you that it doesn’t.  Does the Sheriff’s office care if you were convicted or not?  Well maybe to some degree but I’ll almost assure you that it won’t matter where your concealed firearm permit is concerned.  If you get arrested they may even pull your concealed carry permit at the jail where your booked (that, I don’t know for sure but it wouldn’t surprise me).  So now I get pulled over for anything, the police officer knows if I have a concealed carry permit, they know if I’ve been arrested before (remember they don’t care about convictions), they know if I’m an organ donor, and now they know if my identification has been “bonafied” by the state…not to mention all the other unmentionables found on the face of the drivers license.  They also have a digitized photograph on the front of the DL that can be scanned and compared against a picture taken at the stop (this technology may not be readily available on the street yet, but I believe some cars already have a fingerprint scanner in them that is linked via wireless to the national database).

Now comes the gold star;

I don’t think the Jews in Poland in 1938-39 wanted to wear a gold star to identify them as second class citizens but they were forced to, so they could be easily identifiable to the Nazi’s.  This was what they were used for, http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/badges.html “Reinhardt Heydrich recommended that the Jews be forced to wear badges following the Kristallnacht pogrom in November 1938. The German government first introduced mandatory badges in Poland in November 1939. Jews who failed to wear them risked death. On July 26, 1941, the Judenrat (Jewish Community Council) of Bialystok announced that "the authorities have warned that severe punishment — up to, and including death by shooting — is in store for Jews who do not wear the yellow badge on back and front."

The German government's policy of forcing Jews to wear badges, and then confining all who wore them to ghettos, was a tactic aimed at isolating the Jews from the rest of the population. It enabled the German government to identify, concentrate, deprive, starve, and ultimately murder the Jews of Europe under its control. In 1942, Helmut Knochen, the German government's chief of the Security Service and the Security Police for occupied France and Belgium, stated that the yellow badge was "another step on the road to the Final Solution."

Again I will re-enforce my belief that I’m not a conspiracy theorist, and I don’t believe that the good people working for the DMV in the state of Nevada has anything like this in mind, but really, how far of a stretch is it to think that anyone not wanting to get the little gold star on their drivers license could soon be labeled a subversive?  Haven’t they already started trying to label us as domestic terrorists?  The Patriot Act defines it like this http://www.aclu.org/national-security/how-usa-patriot-act-redefines-domestic-terrorism but Homeland Security under Janet Napolitano defines it like this, http://video1.washingtontimes.com/video/extremismreport.pdf. 

So let’s face illegal immigration on its own terms and do the best we can at keeping ourselves and our families out of the government databases.

Who thinks Nevada needs a law like Arizona's SB1070?

Arizona's recently signed bill SB1070 addressing illegal immigration is a step in the right direction and a step that needs to be taken here in Nevada. Guess where the illegal immigrants from Arizona are going to head to..... Nevada!!!

Lautenberg Amendment??? Really???

I was pouring over my Google alerts this morning, which I try to do every day (but don’t always get there) and I ran across a gem, The ‘Lautenberg Amendment’;  The Lautenberg Amendment was an amendment attached to the ‘Gun Control Act of 1968’ by one or “our” representatives named Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) which in a nutshell takes our second amendment right to ‘keep and bear arms’ away from us for the slightest of infractions.  In states like ours where the domestic abuse laws have forced law enforcement to make an arrest if they are called to a domestic situation, the arrested person, be it the husband or wife, son or daughter, grandmother or grandfather, significant other or roommate will lose their 2^nd amendment rights under the Constitution of the United States.  This amendment, while it may have originated with the best of intentions, has some of the most egregious (hopefully) un-intended consequences.  For instance a 21 year old girl still living at home gets in a shouting match with her mother or father (I know, it would never happen, but bear with me), the police are called and have to make an arrest.  Now being the dutiful officers that most of our law enforcement officers are they try and defuse the situation, even knowing someone is going to jail, and the daughter, who is young full of energy and is ‘never wrong’ throws her car keys in the direction of the parent…pop she goes to jail for domestic abuse.  For the rest of her life, I’ll repeat for clarity’s sake “FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE” she will not be permitted to own a firearm, buy ammunition, go hunting or protect herself from a rapist, mugger or other assailant.  Now I ask you, if that is the intended purpose of the Lautenberg amendment then do we need a representative like Frank Lautenberg?  If it is un-intended consequences of the amendment then why hasn’t Mr. Lautenberg presented legislation to repeal it or amend it? 

The above case is true (to the best of my ability to investigate it).  The law also provides no exception for our military or our law enforcement personnel.  Now no one needs an exemption if they are truly abusing their spouse but on the other hand if a pissed off wife calls the police because her cop husband stayed out late playing cards with the boys, and he knows someone has to go to jail, they have two kids at home and he decides to ‘man up’ and take the heat…he loses his job, and his ability to provide for the family.

This law has so much potential for abuse and has been used that way so many times, that it hasn’t been repealed is almost unfathomable to me.  It has been challenged in the courts but was upheld on appeal…this is just truly a travesty.

Oh and by the way, how many Federal Felons do you think we have walking the streets today because of this law?  Everyone that has ever been convicted of domestic abuse, no matter how minor.  Up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for owning or possessing a firearm after the misdemeanor conviction.  Oh yes, if it’s you, you are a federal felon…you just haven’t been caught yet.

Open Carry Article in Las Vegas

An interesting and lengthy article on open carry here in Southern Nevada.

I'm not sure if Nevada will adopt what some other states are doing and that's IF YOU HAVE A CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT, you could lose your permit if you open carry. They're stance is, "You have a concealed permit and that means the handgun MUST be concealed. Otherwise, we revoke your permit"

Check it out folks. One thing you could do for your safety is vehicle carry IF you have a way to secure the handgun after leaving your vehicle. You don't need a permit to have a handgun in your vehicle. In Nevada, your vehicle is an extension of your home and you are allowed to carry one in your vehicle. Only thing I would do is make sure it's NOT concealed in the vehicle while you are in there as well.

A comment about a lengthy article

The article at http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/11/magazine/11Economy-t.html?pagewanted=all which is waaaaay more lengthy than any normal human being should have to read and the synopsis of it here http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/04/krugman-on-cap-and-trade-we-can-do-this/38629/ prompted me to write a quick note which follows here;

It is interesting to see that... "4. Conservatives: Their obstinate resistance to the science of climate change and the economic tools for tackling it does not mesh with the rest of their worldview."  but does not bring into focus the Liberals 'Obstinate resistance' to the possibility that the science may in fact be skewed.  I am willing to listen to arguments to improve our climate, I recycle 'almost' everything I can, I want my vehicles to run well and not cause any undue pollution, I want a clean and sustainable planet for my kids and grandkids to inherit. 

What I don't want is the government to cap-and-trade or cap-and-tax our economy into such a state that my grandkids will starve or not be able to survive.  Common sense here...has the government ever run anything successfully?  The author 'Krugman' cites the acid rain emissions standards as a success but when those laws were passed it didn't include the government being involved in the rationing of 'credits' or trading in the 'taxes' end of it.  If the laws could be passed that keep the government out of it I may have a different view of climate change legislation (the legislation would have to convince me on its own merit), but until then, anyone promoting cap-and-trade or tax can just start the car, sitting in the garage that they are not using, and breath in that wonderful carbon monoxide until they drift off into a most peaceful sleep.

Pro-Illegal immigration studies

Really according to…

Now come the supposedly impartial Raul Hinojosa-Ojeda, associate professor of Chicana and Chicano studies at UCLA; and Manuel Pastor, a geography and American studies professor and co-director of the USC Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration. Hinojosa-Ojeda, a former advisor to ex-President Bill Clinton, claims legalizing the estimated 12 million illegals now in the United States would produce a $1.5 trillion benefit to the economy over 10 years — about $12,500 per year per legalized immigrant over current levels. Pastor says legalizing the approximately 3 million illegals in California would immediately increase state and local taxes by about $350 million a year.

What about sending illegal immigrants back home, letting some of the 25 million or so legal US citizens drive the wages up and increase the country’s tax base AND not have to put out the services we currently put out for illegal immigrants as well as the services we have to put out for the unemployed US citizens.  Trying to argue the case that by making the illegal immigrants legal will somehow help our country is so bogus that even a “non-professor” can see it.

Climate research

And we believe this why?  This is something to help us survive or help us alter the way we live so a fish can survive?  I’d like the fish to survive (at least until he hits my frying pan) but to put people in jeopardy to keep a fish alive (like the non-game fish in So. Cal.) that is costing people their livelihoods is just ludicrous .  Let’s make sure if we save a fish, a bird, a deer, a spotted owl, or a Gecko (or is that Geico), that we don’t hurt humankind in doing it (and you can bet that some, if not all of these projects are wasteful).

RESTON, Va., March 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. government says it is funding 17 projects to better understand future climate change conditions and their effects on fish and other wildlife.

Officials said the projects include studies of alterations in Florida's ecosystems, potential impacts on Great Lakes fish, sea-level rise impacts on San Francisco Bay marshes, and the effects of melting glaciers on Alaska's freshwater coastal systems.

The U.S. Geological Survey funded the projects through the National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center.

"Our future holds new climate conditions and new habitat responses, and managers need projections based on sound science to assess how our landscapes may change and to develop effective response strategies for species survival," said Susan Haseltine, USGS associate director for biology.

The National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center and other USGS scientific programs will work closely with eight regional Climate Science Centers being established by the Department of the Interior. Officials said those centers will provide scientific information, tools and techniques needed to manage land, water, wildlife and cultural resources in the face of climate change.

I just spent an hour reading the ‘Daily Kos’.  Oh My God, that is the most radical piece of “kos” I’ve ever seen.  Do these people that write on that web site actually believe the ‘stuff’ they are spouting.  I can’t continue, I have a headache, it’s time for Excedrin (or Rum).

I’m amazed that the SEIU is spending so much advertising cash on the “Thank you Dina Titus” adds I’m seeing all over the place online.  Could it be because SEIU sees the health care bill as the first step in getting rid of the Cadillac insurance plans and porting all healthcare over to the taxpayer.  SEIU along with other unions have these plans that are costing them a fortune, when the government taxes these plans at a higher rate the owners of the plans will want to downgrade or change their coverage.  If this bill that passed is like the one I read (and after reading 1500 pages of the first one I couldn’t force myself to read 2700 pages of this one), when they make a change to their plan they may be forced into the government plan…single payer here we come.

Just because you can does that make you more likely to?

Concealed carry gives you the ability to ‘shoot it out’ with law enforcement but because you ‘can’ do a thing doesn’t mean you ‘will’ do a thing.  I have known, and still know, many people who have concealed carry permits and down to the very last one they are law abiding citizens who would never consider a ‘shootout’ with law enforcement.  Most (if not all) train so they can be ready when the need arises to have to defend themselves or their families, they can, so far none that I know have felt the need to have to defend themselves from law enforcement. 

Don’t ever think that couldn’t change.  The more egregious the legislation the federal government passes the more likely it will become that we have to defend ourselves from tyranny.  When a time comes that our happiness depends on pleasing the government masters, unless we ate totally unarmed we will face the possibility that we will have to defend ourselves and our families from law enforcement who have chosen to abandon the Constitution and stand with a tyrannical government.

The identification of those people, the identification of the time, the identification of the place, and the realization that your life is almost certainly forfeit will only be borne by the individual.  Only when the freedom for my children outweighs the value of my life will that come to pass.  I love life and as long as I have a peaceful recourse to fight what I perceive are injustices I will continue to fight through those channels, besides my oldest is a socialist by choice so fighting for his freedoms isn’t in the cards today.

Lights went out for earth hour

Well the lights went out at the Sidney Oprah House, the Eiffel Tower, Beijing's Forbidden City, all in protest of the use of energy by human beings.  I’m sure if the ones that are yelling the loudest and hardest went back to living by candle light, eating only what they grew themselves and riding horses for transportation the world would indeed be better off.  Oh, by the way that would mean no power for cell phones, computers or refrigerators ether.  Heck maybe that would be the best for human kind, at least it would serve to shut the idiots up…

Climate Change has little to do with Science

As I’ve been watching over the past few years, I’ve come to believe that our climate is changing.  Though I’m not convinced that 1) we have caused it and 2) that we can do much about it.  I do however see the differences in the air quality over San Diego, Las Vegas and other big cities as a positive outcome of efforts made by people to clean up their act.  Do I want our efforts on living greener to fail?  No I don’t.  Do I want our government’s efforts on climate change to fail?  Yes I do. 

Herein lies the problem with government enacted climate change laws, health care laws, social security laws…on and on…it is the government mandating that we do it.  The trust in our government has reached an all time low and to have them pass a cap and trade system, congers up images of taxes being used to build a bridge to nowhere, or an ice skating rink in the Bahamas, or a rope ladder to the moon.  It “ain’t-a-gonna” happen and we are going to pay exorbitant taxes to make it not happen.  That is our government’s history, put a huge costly program in place and then mismanage it.

I read an article on Ed Begley Jr. who is an environmentalist and a climate change supporter, I won’t bash him for his beliefs because I believe almost the same way he does about our environment.  If we live simply and conserve our planet, it will take care of us forever.  If however we try to manage the care of our planet through the government it won’t work.  We need to convince people to take care of it themselves.  Education on sustainable living, conservation of our environment and rewards for innovative, ecologically sound thinking.  

So now to my point, this whole post has been about government control of climate change so the ‘science’ of climate change has taken the back seat.  I think it’s time to get the government out of climate change and get the science and the individual back in.
