Climate research

And we believe this why?  This is something to help us survive or help us alter the way we live so a fish can survive?  I’d like the fish to survive (at least until he hits my frying pan) but to put people in jeopardy to keep a fish alive (like the non-game fish in So. Cal.) that is costing people their livelihoods is just ludicrous .  Let’s make sure if we save a fish, a bird, a deer, a spotted owl, or a Gecko (or is that Geico), that we don’t hurt humankind in doing it (and you can bet that some, if not all of these projects are wasteful).

RESTON, Va., March 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. government says it is funding 17 projects to better understand future climate change conditions and their effects on fish and other wildlife.

Officials said the projects include studies of alterations in Florida's ecosystems, potential impacts on Great Lakes fish, sea-level rise impacts on San Francisco Bay marshes, and the effects of melting glaciers on Alaska's freshwater coastal systems.

The U.S. Geological Survey funded the projects through the National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center.

"Our future holds new climate conditions and new habitat responses, and managers need projections based on sound science to assess how our landscapes may change and to develop effective response strategies for species survival," said Susan Haseltine, USGS associate director for biology.

The National Climate Change and Wildlife Science Center and other USGS scientific programs will work closely with eight regional Climate Science Centers being established by the Department of the Interior. Officials said those centers will provide scientific information, tools and techniques needed to manage land, water, wildlife and cultural resources in the face of climate change.

My head is about explode.

I just spent an hour reading the ‘Daily Kos’.  Oh My God, that is the most radical piece of “kos” I’ve ever seen.  Do these people that write on that web site actually believe the ‘stuff’ they are spouting.  I can’t continue, I have a headache, it’s time for Excedrin (or Rum).

Titus and her campaign

I’m amazed that the SEIU is spending so much advertising cash on the “Thank you Dina Titus” adds I’m seeing all over the place online.  Could it be because SEIU sees the health care bill as the first step in getting rid of the Cadillac insurance plans and porting all healthcare over to the taxpayer.  SEIU along with other unions have these plans that are costing them a fortune, when the government taxes these plans at a higher rate the owners of the plans will want to downgrade or change their coverage.  If this bill that passed is like the one I read (and after reading 1500 pages of the first one I couldn’t force myself to read 2700 pages of this one), when they make a change to their plan they may be forced into the government plan…single payer here we come.

Just because you can does that make you more likely to?

Concealed carry gives you the ability to ‘shoot it out’ with law enforcement but because you ‘can’ do a thing doesn’t mean you ‘will’ do a thing.  I have known, and still know, many people who have concealed carry permits and down to the very last one they are law abiding citizens who would never consider a ‘shootout’ with law enforcement.  Most (if not all) train so they can be ready when the need arises to have to defend themselves or their families, they can, so far none that I know have felt the need to have to defend themselves from law enforcement.

Don’t ever think that couldn’t change.  The more egregious the legislation the federal government passes the more likely it will become that we have to defend ourselves from tyranny.  When a time comes that our happiness depends on pleasing the government masters, unless we ate totally unarmed we will face the possibility that we will have to defend ourselves and our families from law enforcement who have chosen to abandon the Constitution and stand with a tyrannical government.

The identification of those people, the identification of the time, the identification of the place, and the realization that your life is almost certainly forfeit will only be borne by the individual.  Only when the freedom for my children outweighs the value of my life will that come to pass.  I love life and as long as I have a peaceful recourse to fight what I perceive are injustices I will continue to fight through those channels, besides my oldest is a socialist by choice so fighting for his freedoms isn’t in the cards today.

Lights went out for earth hour

Well the lights went out at the Sidney Oprah House, the Eiffel Tower, Beijing's Forbidden City, all in protest of the use of energy by human beings.  I’m sure if the ones that are yelling the loudest and hardest went back to living by candle light, eating only what they grew themselves and riding horses for transportation the world would indeed be better off.  Oh, by the way that would mean no power for cell phones, computers or refrigerators ether.  Heck maybe that would be the best for human kind, at least it would serve to shut the idiots up…

Climate Change has little to do with Science

As I’ve been watching over the past few years, I’ve come to believe that our climate is changing.  Though I’m not convinced that 1) we have caused it and 2) that we can do much about it.  I do however see the differences in the air quality over San Diego, Las Vegas and other big cities as a positive outcome of efforts made by people to clean up their act.  Do I want our efforts on living greener to fail?  No I don’t.  Do I want our government’s efforts on climate change to fail?  Yes I do.

Herein lies the problem with government enacted climate change laws, health care laws, social security laws…on and on…it is the government mandating that we do it.  The trust in our government has reached an all time low and to have them pass a cap and trade system, congers up images of taxes being used to build a bridge to nowhere, or an ice skating rink in the Bahamas, or a rope ladder to the moon.  It “ain’t-a-gonna” happen and we are going to pay exorbitant taxes to make it not happen.  That is our government’s history, put a huge costly program in place and then mismanage it.

I read an article on Ed Begley Jr. who is an environmentalist and a climate change supporter, I won’t bash him for his beliefs because I believe almost the same way he does about our environment.  If we live simply and conserve our planet, it will take care of us forever.  If however we try to manage the care of our planet through the government it won’t work.  We need to convince people to take care of it themselves.  Education on sustainable living, conservation of our environment and rewards for innovative, ecologically sound thinking.

So now to my point, this whole post has been about government control of climate change so the ‘science’ of climate change has taken the back seat.  I think it’s time to get the government out of climate change and get the science and the individual back in.

Saturday Morning

Well I guess we would have to say all day. It if finally here!!! I am, of course, talking about the Clark County Republican Party Convention. This Convention is where we will select the delegates that will travel to the State Convention and help shape the Republican Party for our national elections. I'm looking forward to it because in Clark County we have seen a complete takeover of the local party by conservatives. If you want to call them Tea Partiers, feel free, if you want to call them radicals, feel free, if you want to call them just about anything, feel free...and that is the point, those of us that got involved in this takeover want to 'feel free'. In order to 'feel free' in this country we need to get together and take the check book away from the federal government.

Saturday the 20th of March we will be 'drawing blood' again within the Republican Party, we will be once again making a conservative voice heard in this state, with the help of all of the grassroots activists we will be making national news.

My postings

I have been as busy as a ‘one legged Indian in an ass kicking contest’ and haven’t had time to write too much.  When I do get time I find that I’m torn between Gun Control, Illegal Immigration, Politics, Climate Change, Human Rights / Constitutional Rights etc.  While I would like to be able to write something about all of them every night I find it almost impossible so I’m going to hopefully back off a little.  I will let the other authors cover their interests on this site and I’ll try to focus on only one or two.  I’m going to choose Politics and Climate Change.  Climate change is big enough I’m sure, but I can’t get away from the Politics so I’ll have two really big ones.  In general Politics will also cover illegal immigration, Gun Control, Human Rights / Constitutional Rights etc. but if the other authors start posting on the site I’ll stay away from those topics.

Look forward to a post this weekend on the Health Care bill that is getting (or not getting) voted on this weekend.  BTW, it’s a bad bill and one that will cost us dearly if it passes.

And this is the reason I don't want government cap-and-trade

You just can’t trust them with our money…from http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=911265&category=REGION

In October, the governor [David Paterson] raided $90 million from RGGI to balance the state budget, a step that outraged the environmental community. “

Climate Science---Political Science

I’ve been wondering what it is that makes the world-go-round.  First I thought it was money (and in a way it may be).  Then I thought it was power (and in a way it may be).  Then I thought it was ego (and in a way it may be).  Then I realized that they all go hand in hand so I thought I’d just invent a new word that sums it up…came up with assholes (sorry couldn’t think of a new word that is a better fit).

First I watch Presidential appointee Rattner (the car czar) and he orders 789 Chrysler dealerships closed, not because of anything you might think but because of the 789, 788 of the dealerships donated exclusively to the Republican Party…this just bodes well for getting Obama re-elected, keep the dealerships open that supported you and close the ones that didn’t.  Now throw on top of that little incident, the gift to the UAW of a 55% control of the corporation and you have a sure fire bet with Chrysler, which the President does not want the government to control (yeah right).  Well Rattner resigned his position because he wanted to spend more time with his family (couldn’t be because of kickback investigations now could it?).

Next we go to Climate Science.  Why would these people want their observations to support global warming…oops, climate change?  Well when you are on the bus with “climate change” you get tenure in your organization, when you don’t, you don’t.  So could it be the triad here…money, power, ego?  The more you support the government position (and it could be warming, cooling or pink daffodils) the more grant money the school gets.  The more grant money the school gets, the more power you get to choose who stays and who goes, and the more you feed your ego.

I’m thinking I need to support a study on how handsome, sexy and outwardly wonderful old bald men are…

Mother Jones Reports on the Climate Change PR Disaster

In an article in Mother Jones http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2010/03/climate-changes-pr-disaster , writer Kevin Drum struck upon the real reason Climate Change deniers have grown more vocal and have become more skeptical, though I’m not sure he realizes it.  If you look at one specific phrase you will find it for me in a nutshell…”This is why so many environmentalists have switched gears recently, suggesting that climate change action should be disguised as energy research, national security programs, or competition with China for market share in windmills and solar panels.”

Now I ask you, if we have a real problem do we trust people who plan to “disguise” the problem as something else in order to get support?  I don’t, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, then call it a freakin DUCK.

This is the way to control guns

“Baltimore's top prosecutor is heading to Annapolis to push state lawmakers to pass stronger gun laws. Baltimore State's Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy says she plans to appear today at a Senate hearing to recommend expanding a no-parole law that she says has helped cut violent crime. Under the 2000 law, convicted felons charged with gun possession face a mandatory no-parole penalty of five years in prison. The state's attorney is pushing to increase sentences in some cases up to 15 years, expand the list of prohibited firearms to include rifles and long guns, and ban felons from possessing ammunition. Jessamy says Baltimore prosecutors have obtained hundreds of no-parole sentences for violent felons caught with firearms, which she says has led to a drop in gun crime.”

When criminals violate the statutes punish them…see gun laws really do work if they are enforced.

The President Meets with Grassroots activists

I’m impressed.  The President has met with a number of grassroots activists groups to discuss immigration reform.  I think he may be getting an ear full of reasons why giving a path to amnesty is a bad idea…oh wait, after taking a look at the ‘grassroots groups’ I may have looked at this wrong…what do you think:

·         Eliseo Medina, Executive Vice President, Service Employee International Union

·         Lillian Rodríguez López , President, Hispanic Federation/Chair, National Hispanic Leadership Agenda

·         The Most Reverend John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, Catholic Church

·         Deepak Bhargava, Executive Director, Center for Community Change (CCC)

·         Ali Noorani, Executive Director, National Immigration Forum

·         Reverend Luis Cortes, President, Esperanza USA

·         Clarissa Martínez De Castro, Director of Immigration and National Campaigns, National Council of La Raza

·         Angelica Salas, Director, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA)

·         Carlos Saavedra, National Coordinator of the United We Dream Network

·         John W. Wilhelm, General President, Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees (HERE) International Union

·         Joseph Hansen, International President, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW)

·         Gustavo Torres, Executive Director, CASA De Maryland

·         Chung-Wha Hong, Executive Director, New York Immigration Coalition

·         Joshua Hoyt, Executive Director, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights

These don’t look like they may be giving him any of the cons of amnesty, I wonder where he gets that information?

The immigration reform bill of Senators Durkin and Schumer

‘Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer said Wednesday he and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham are “getting real close” to a finalizing a bi-partisan agreement on a comprehensive immigration reform and overhaul of the broken immigration system.’  according to this web site http://news.jornal.us/article-4643.Lack-of-GOP-Backing-for-Immigration-Reform-Bill-Causes-Delays.html .  Now I ask you, is the immigration system broken or is the enforcement of our immigration laws broken?  I submit that politics and payoffs to Congressmen and women as well as to Senators by businesses looking for cheap labor and Democrats (and some Repugs) looking for a large voting bloc have broken the enforcement of our immigration laws.

Schumer wants this bill presented before the Congress before the March 21st march on the national mall by illegal and legal immigrants DEMANDING reform of the laws.  These people have the right to ‘demand’ reform to laws that they have broken?  Wait these people are in our country illegally, they don’t have any rights according to our Constitution.

With no rights and a large contingent of illegal aliens on the National Mall on March 21st it might be a wonderful time for INS to make a showing.  Let them go march and check their status as they get back on the hundreds of busses that will be bussing them to the mall.  Once they are identified as illegal then use the busses that brought them to Washington to bus them to the FEMA holding camps (if there is such a thing) until they can be deported back to their country of origin…problem solved.

A six year old

This story (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,588183,00.html)  is a sign of what our school system has become.  Really, suspend a kindergartner for curling up his hand and making an imaginary gun.  I’m sorry our liberal schools have to make this into something it isn’t.  First this six year old kid probably has zero understanding of what a gun would really do to another person, second he is trying to play with classmates.  This suspension is nothing more than liberals pushing an agenda of no tolerance of guns of any kind.  If he had made a shadow puppet of a rabbit getting eaten by a fox would he have gotten suspended?  Not likely because the liberals teaching in our schools don’t really know that animals kill other animals, remember they are the ones that don’t like hunting because they can go to the supermarket and get their meat so animals don’t have to be injured.

Illegal immigration status...

I fear the problems we will have in this country if we don’t crack down on illegal immigration in this country.  First we will see more legal citizens of this country out of work because illegal’s have the jobs.  When that happens we will start to see a backlash from legal citizens.  This backlash might go into hate speech, attacks on suspected illegal’s and overall racial distrust causing more disturbance in our society.  We need to enforce the existing laws we have on the books no matter how compassionate we feel toward the illegal immigrants we may know personally.  This doesn’t have anything to do with race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status, this has to do with survival as a nation.  If we don’t enforce our laws then we can expect challenges to our burglary laws based on ‘the door was unlocked’, or our robbery laws based on ‘I had a knife and he had money’.  The lawyers will challenge any law we have on the books so we need judges that will enforce what we have to protect us.

Ok so here is another one...Starbucks OK with guns in store

I don’t drink a Venti Double Mocha Latte Cappuccino or any other Starbucks coffee (I don’t drink coffee at all or I’m sure I would) but I do applaud their stand on the Law.  I just hope they stick to their ‘guns’ so to speak.  Starbucks has issued a statement that they don’t want to get in the middle of the ongoing gun debate in this country and I don’t blame them.  I do say though, and you may find this strange, that the Brady Campaign is right in jumping on this band wagon.
Starbucks didn’t want to be involved in the gun debate and was willing to let whatever state law that provided over the carry of firearms prevail in their stores.  Gun owners didn’t let that happen naturally, and someone at a Starbucks saw a couple of good ol’ boys going to the range, wanting that Cappuccino before (or after) they went, and it made that 'someone' nervous so they pushed it into the media.  Well at that point if gun owners had left well enough alone, Starbucks would have issued their statement and it wouldn’t be getting this attention, the Brady Campaign might not be trying to push Starbucks into taking a pro-gun control stance.  Nice try, gun owners but I get the feeling that this one may backfire, we need to be more careful what we ask for.

Lets play...how much money do we have.

I’ve decided to give 50 bucks to every worthy charity I can find.  To start with I’m going to identify the ones I can find in my home state of Nevada, more to the point, the Vegas Valley;
Ok so maybe 50 bucks was a little over the top seeing as how I haven’t gotten through the first two pages from Las Vegas Charities…well maybe 10 bucks…;-)
Ok so it ain’t gonna happen…hopefully I can make a point here though.  We are the citizens of the United States of America, we have been a free people for over 200 years, free to choose what charities we decide are worthy of our hard earned cash, free to decide if and when we give money to people in need.  Just look at the numbers of non-profits in our country, if we were not a charitable people do you think those non-profits would exist in these numbers?  The problem I see is that I no longer feel like I can donate to charities that I feel are worthwhile.  The federal and state government continues to increase my taxes to give my money to people that THEY (whoever they are) think needs it the most.  As it turns out, it isn’t even who they think needs it the most, it is whatever lobbyist gives THEM the most that gets my charity…sorry but I can’t think of a better, socially acceptable word for it.  The problem is now I don’t reap the benefits of giving…you remember, that good feeling you get when you do something you believe is good…the government is stealing that from us.
I love this country, I’ve lost my love for this government.
prp
P.S. I’ve decided to stick with my chosen couple of charities to support, at least until the government takes more of my money.

Global Warming Hoax

I read an article on the Daily Times serving Delaware County, PA where the article claims Global Warming nothing but a con.  I don’t buy into that theory.  Global Warming may in fact be more than a con but because almost every link people put up as evidence to support Global Warming ends with a .gov address I’m extremely skeptical.

Isn’t the biggest concern here that people skewed the science to support Global warming so they could continue their livelihoods, ie. Government research grants, carbon credits and trading in them.  Why the hell would you, if you believe Global Warming is a hoax, go to a .gov web site to be convinced that its real.  Don’t make since to an old country boy.

I have been looking at my Google Alerts and...

I find that the Congress is moving to limit the EPA's ability to put a cap-and-trade(tax) in place. Though the bills being presented now does not limit their ability to limit auto emissions it does limit their ability to regulate the power plants in this country. In other words they may be able to drive up the price of gas by their regulations but not our power bills (if it gets passed) the if in prenthises is a huge if because our President will surely veto the bill because its his plan to have the EPA regulate if the Congress can't come together on it.

Next I've read about the SCCC or Students for Concealed Carry on Campus have been being shut down on campuses across the country because the school doesn't like the message. See the article at http://www.ammoland.com/2010/03/05/young-americans-want-their-liberties-too/ . This isn't a fight about carrying guns on campus as much is it is about suppression of the students First Amendment rights...they don't even want them talking about carrying guns on campus.

Again the gun control advocates are jumping on the band wagon of 'If he didn't have access to a gun then he couldn't have wounded the two police officers at the Pentagon', well maybe not from the distance he chose to shoot them but he still could have done damage. If I were intent on doing bodily harm to someone, police officer or private citizen, I could shoot them, get close and stab them with a knife, get close and stab them with a screw driver, plant explosives and blow them up, poison them, stick a needle in their brain...ok so maybe I'm belaboring the point a little, after all Rose ain't fat because of a spoon, she would eat if it had to be with her bare hands. To further that logic, if I wanted to kill you, it wouldn't be because I owned a gun.

Looks like a great blog!

Glad to see a blog where people can share their ideas!

My main issue is illegal immigration and getting my fellow Nevadans to recognize that many of the people who claim to be against it are really only paying us lip service. If you take the time to really look into what many of the people currently running for office stand for on this issue, you'll soon discover they tell us all one thing, but have "very cozy ties" with groups and organizations who totally support amnesty. The main goal of many of the Hispanic/Latino groups here in Las Vegas is to get Hispanics elected to public office in order to promote the "Hispanic Community's" agenda.

I would hate for anyone to confuse my stance on this issue as being discriminatory or racist; that is the farthest thing from the truth. I happen to be Hispanic myself, but my blood runs Red, White and Blue. I'm just a little tired of people assuming someone is racist because they want this country's immigration laws enforced. America's immigration laws aren't "broken" like our government wants us to believe; they just refuse to enforce them.

I have a lot of information on this topic that I would be happy to share, so if you're interested or have a question on this issue, feel free to contact me thru this blog. I'll be posting things regarding this topic from time to time. Has anyone watched the news on Telemundo or Univision lately? VERY INTERESTING!! By the way, I'm a fluent Spanish-speaker too!!

The EPA and the administrations bid to regulate C02

The administration, word that as President Obama if you want to, has publically stated that they didn’t need the congress to pass ‘cap-and-trade’ because the EPA had a finding that C02 gases were a public health hazard and could thereby enact emission regulations by virtue of being the Environmental Protection Agency.

This amounts to nothing more than an tactic to pass a defacto cap-and-trade scheme (better known as cap-n-tax).  This would be the biggest single tax increase in the history of our nation and all coming from a governmental agency that does not have the constitutional authority to impose taxes.  There are movements in congress to stop the EPA’s actions and they need our support.  If any of the congressmen and women or any of these people are your senators then by all means contact them and show your support of stopping the EPA.  http://www.nytimes.com/gwire/2010/03/01/01greenwire-house-gop-to-launch-another-salvo-at-epa-emiss-43276.html .

I would also urge any of you who read this blog, that have an interest in keeping up on some specific topic, to go to  http://www.google.com/alerts and request daily alerts on your topics of interest.  I have alerts on ‘Gun Control’, ‘Concealed Carry’, ‘EPA’, and ‘Climate Change’, so you will be seeing things from time to time from me that originate from those alerts.

Well I watched the segment on John Ralston’s face to face tonight, not only am I not impressed, he appears to be just what I guessed he was when I first heard about this, a slick used car salesman.

I don’t see someone that is committed to helping this country, what I see is someone who is our to maintain the status quo.  He is a contractor and if Harry can funnel stimulus money into this state he will benefit.

He may be the most conservative person on the planet but if he is that committed to the ideals as he says he is, then why start a new party ‘The Tea Party’, why not just file as an independent or a libertarian.  This is a move to cash in on the tea party movement without putting any work into it…

So far I don’t believe this guy for a minute and with any steam at all he will be a spoiler.
